Wedding Photos with a Canon G-9 ?

I would never attempt to take professional quality wedding pictures with a point and shoot camera. The cameras just can’t keep up with the action of an event like a wedding. However, this last weekend we were guests at a cousins’ wedding in Redmond, WA. I brought my Canon G-9 with me so I could take a few pictures for my mother in law who could not attend. Talk about a challenge !!
There is no way I would even attempt this again. The focusing mechanisms are just too slow. I even tried to use manual focus to speed things up.
My wife says I am just too fussy. What do you think?
