We spent the day along the coast.

First stop – Half Moon Bay Feed & Fuel. This is a great place to take children who love animals. There were several species of baby chicks, a couple of rabbits and lots of stuff to see.

Next stop: Harley Farms in Pescadero. Lots of goats and great cheese.

If you love animals, the San Francisco zoo is a wonderful place to take children. Sunday was particularly beautiful with warm sun and light breezes.

A Drive Up the Coast

Wednesday afternoon I drove up the coast from Santa Cruz to San Francisco and stopped at Ano Nueva State Reserve and the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. It was one of those sunny afternoons we get in early December and, of course, I couldn’t resist taking some pictures. Ano Nueva is famous as a breeding ground for Elephant Seals. This isn’t the season, but I was lucky to see one.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse and the surf were absolutely gorgeous.

Another reminder to always have a camera with you.

Sunday we went to the Golden Gate Kennel Club dog Show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. The boys love all animals.

I wanted to try out my new R Strap for the camera plus use my Nikkor 50 mm 1.4 lens exclusively with natural light. The light was flourescent and I had to use ISO 800 with shutter speed of mostly 1/30th of a second. Pretty low light. The results were ok but you can definitely see the grain and motion which leads to some pretty poor focus. However, it was really light to carry and certainly better than any point and shoot camera.

Fourth Birthday – Second Party. (First was an impromptu party yesterday at the San Francisco Zoo). This one was at home with friends and family.

Dylan is just a party animal.

A Fitting Tribute to Tatiana

The tragedy of the death of Tatiana has gripped all of us who visited the San Francisco Zoo frequently. By ourselves, with our children and with our grandchildren– we love to zoo and the animals.
