It is a sad day for me today. One of my best friends, Gene Herson, died this morning after a long illness.

I felt I needed to go to a place where there was infinite beauty – Filoli – Redwood City, California.

I sought the quiet beauty of this wonderful place which is dedicated to the interpretation and stewardship of the cultural traditions and natural history of this country estate.

I love to take leisurely walks. In Saturday we were in Healdsburg. I decided to take a slow walk in the neighborhood.
What more could you ask for than a mild Fall day and a beautoful walk.

Stanford continues to set a fine example of how lovely an outdoor shopping mall can be. Despite a poor economy, the management maintains the premises beautifully. The tenants are first class. It is a pleasure to spend some time here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

The end of the summer usually has a few days of nice warm sun. This Labor Day was one of those days.
A nice walk in this San Francisco treasure. It is the home for a terrific series of summer concerts. It also serves as a great dog park.
