I am constantly amazed at what inspired artists do in their communities. The Tiled Steps Project was started in 2003 by the Golden Gate Heights Neighborhood Association. These steps are located between 15th and 16th Avenue and Moraga Street overlooking the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco.

2010 Nike Women’s Marathon – San Francisco

Sunday, October 17, 2010 is the date of the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco.

Starting on Thursday, at Union Square, there are exhibits and activities presented by various sponsors.

The Exploratorium in San Francisco is a wonderful place to take children who have an interest in science. It is very hands on and they get to see a lot of interesting natural phenomena.

Great field trip for parents and children alike.

Sailing on San Francisco Bay

Nothing beats the strong winds for sailing in San Francisco Bay. It is one of the finest racing venues in the world and provides an opportunity for sailing fans to watch world class sailing. Hopefully San Francisco will host the Americas Cup. Are you listening Mr. Ellison.

If you love animals, the San Francisco zoo is a wonderful place to take children. Sunday was particularly beautiful with warm sun and light breezes.

Tax Day is an appropriate to protest the direction the country is going economically. I watched closely and listened carefully. To me this was a clear example of the meaning of free speech the way the Constitution intended it.

The first video is the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.

KSFO Radio 560 was one of sponsors of the event and hosted a table which sold Tee Shirts. In this video, “Officer Vic” delivers some welcoming remarks.

Perhaps the most inspiring speech was from a 18 year old first generation whose parents are Russian immigrants. She worries that the US is becoming more like the Socialist country her family escaped from:

Altogether a very good day for free speech in San Francisco.

San Francisco Zip Line FREE

If you saw the winter Olympics in Vancouver, you saw the Zip Line running downtown. This is a travel promotion for British Columbia and is free from April 8 through April 18, 2010 at Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco.

Lands End & Sutro Baths

I took time out on Thursday to explore Lands End and the ruins of Sutro Baths in San Francisco. You can walk along the foundation and watch the ocean from ground level. The walk around the Coastal Trail leads North East towards the Golden Gate Bridge. The parking lot has recently been expanded making it very easy to acces this beautiful San Francisco landmark.
