It is a sad day for me today. One of my best friends, Gene Herson, died this morning after a long illness.
I felt I needed to go to a place where there was infinite beauty – Filoli – Redwood City, California.
I sought the quiet beauty of this wonderful place which is dedicated to the interpretation and stewardship of the cultural traditions and natural history of this country estate.
We spent the day along the coast.
First stop – Half Moon Bay Feed & Fuel. This is a great place to take children who love animals. There were several species of baby chicks, a couple of rabbits and lots of stuff to see.
Next stop: Harley Farms in Pescadero. Lots of goats and great cheese.
Today was our day to take Brinley to the Museum. There is a great section on California history.
The father of photojournalism speaks in this outstanding visual and audio presentation.
What a great day. We had all the cousins together for an afternoon of swimming.

I never get tired of the Zoo. The curators and management have done a superb job of making this place a joy to behold.
It has been a very busy 2 weeks. At the end of April, we hosted a weekend for our Sacramento grandchildren.
We started with an afternoon at the Zoo on Saturday. On Sunday we went to the Discovery Museum in Marin County.
Then…… lots of well deserved rest !

We did Easter in two locations this year. San Mateo and Davis.
